The types of personal information we may collect at this Website from children under age 13 include: first and last name; home address; e-mail address; phone number; fax number; age/birth date; emergency contact and emergency phone number; and shirt sizes.

We do not condition (and are prohibited by law from conditioning) a childís participation on the childís disclosing more personal information than what is reasonably necessary to participate in an activity at VBA. Required personal information is clearly marked as such (often with an asterisk).

How We Collect Information

We typically collect personal information at this Website by asking for the information directly from our visitors in connection with the various activities described above: reserving lessons with instructors; tunnel rentals; participating in leagues, tournaments or camps; registering for the Virgina Baseball Academysí select teams; or filling out registration forms for the Virginia Baseball Academysí strength and conditioning or arm speed programs. We do not share this information collected from children under the age of 13 with any third parties except those parties that help us administer our Website and/or may participate or partner with us in organizing and/or administering a league, tournament or camp.

Like many Websites, we also use "cookies" which are small text files that are stored on the Website visitorís computer and gather and keep track of information related to the Website visitor. This technology can store the visitorís preferences and other information that can help us personalize information provided to the particular visitor. Cookies also help us review Website traffic patterns and improve our Website. Cookies technology is indirect or passive (meaning that you may not always realize that information is being collected). Although many Website browsers are set to accept cookies, you can set your Website browsers to reject cookies, but this may prevent you from using some of the convenience features of this Website.

Finally, Virginia Baseball Academy keeps records of certain non-personally identifiable information such as the number of hits a web page receives, IP address, and other aggregate data. We do not link this aggregate data with any personal information. Third parties that help us administer our Website may have access to this non-personally identifiable, aggregate data, as may our third party ad servers. However, these third parties are bound to keep this information confidential.

Parents Rights

In most circumstances, we do not collect personal information directly from children under age 13. Instead, we will request that our Website visitors under age 13 ask their parent to send the personal information being requested in connection with the particular activity. In such instances, we will typically ask that the child request the parent to send us an e-mail containing the requested information for the particular activity.

Before this Website collects personal information from a child under age 13, we will:

  1. Provide the childís parent with notice regarding what personal information will be collected, used, or disclosed and what the parentís options are; and
  2. Obtain parental consent, except in the following circumstances:
    • To respond to the childís one time request (e.g., sending us a question via e-mail). In such instances, we will collect the childís e-mail address and then delete such contact information from our records after responding.
    • To protect the security or integrity of the Website, take precautions against liability, or otherwise respond to judicial process or law enforcement inquiries (so long as the personal information is reasonably needed to do so).
    • To help us provide notice to the parent or obtain parental consent in the first place. We will delete the name and online contact information of the parent and/or child from our records if parental consent is not obtained within a reasonable time following collection of the information.

A parent may review his or her childís personal information and have it deleted or changed by contacting VirginiaBaseballAcademy.com

A parent is always free, whether initially or later on, to grant consent to the collection and use of his or her childís personal information while at the same time prohibiting disclosure of such information (whether sharing, selling, renting or otherwise providing to third parties, or making publicly available in identifiable form by any means). A parent should contact VirginiaBaseballAcademy.com.
